Santa Teresa, situated in southern Sardinia, just in the heart of the Gallura region, tops a promontory boasting an outstanding view over the surrounding landscape: it overlooks the southern coast of Corsica to the north, the archipelago of La Maddalena to the north-east and the Sardinian Sea to the west. The city centre develops around two coves: the inlet of porto Longone, with its small harbour, and the small sandy cove of Rena Bianca.

Particularly interesting are the Aragonese Tower in Longosardo and the remains of the ancient castle.
In the neighbourhoods are some important archaeological sites such as the nuraghic complex of Capo Testa, the tombs of the giant in Lu Brandali and La Testa, and the Chiesa del Buoncammino, situated 3 kilometres far from the city centre and surrounded by an ancient pinewood forest, a quiet and unspoiled environmental oasis.

The town, with its 4.900 inhabitants, is characterized by its Roman plan, a town planning scheme made up of narrow streets which cross perpendicularly, and is provided with every kind of service.

Santa Teresa also boasts some of the most appreciated beaches in Sardinia: Rena Bianca, Capo Testa Ponente and Levante, Baia Santa Reparata, Cala Grande, Cala Spinosa, Rena Majore, La Marmorata, Cala Sanbuco; the numerous coves and inlets sheltered from the wind are famous as well.
